Apple CD-ROM Drive
The AppleCD 300 is a new CD-ROM drive designed by Apple Computer Inc., to transfer data up to twice as fast as most CD-ROM drives. It is equipped with a speed select switch that allows users to select either single- or double-speed mode. It can also read multisession Kodak Photo CD discs. A Photo CD image is a digitized version of a 35 mm photograph that can be viewed on a Macintosh screen. With a multisession Photo CD disc, additional photographic images can be added to the screen. The AppleCD 300 allows users with multimedia architecture to access high-quality images and cut, paste, and edit them into documents. The CD 300 supports several new CD formats, including CD+G and CD+MIDI. An internal version of CD 300, called the CD 300i, will be available as a dealer-installable option for Macintosh computers with an available 5.25-inch drive bay. $599, AppleCD 300. $499, AppleCD 300i Internal Upgrade Kit.
